5 Ways to Own a Room As You Enter


It doesn’t matter whether you’re going to a business or social function, it’s important to know to own the room. Knowing how to mingle and communicate with others is a quintessential skill.  Some people are naturally born with the social skill that command attention in a room; others have to practice. Owning a room is more than making eye contact with someone, it’s about observation.  When you are aware of the things happening around you, you are in a better position to make a connection with others.  When you follow these simple tips you will not only own the room, but you will leave a lasting impression.

Walk in Confidence - Know your worth and that your time is valuable to others

Be Aware of Your Body Language – Making eye contact and having firm posture and poise has a positive impact on how feel; and when you feel good you’re approachable

Know Your Purpose – Have a sense of purpose before you enter the room and know what you want and why you want it

Focus on Your Strengths – Be your own authentic self and stop comparing yourself to others 

Build a Rapport – Being a good listener is the key to being a great communicator. Listening more than you talk, allows you to learn more about the other person to make the connection
