How PR Helped My Business Grow

I always had an entrepreneurial spirit ever since the tender age of fourteen years old when I started my first business Gee’s Business Services, creating business cards, flyers and menu’s for restaurants. Later on I moved on to my own artist management company, consulting firm, and now publishing company. Like many entrepreneurs, I started a business without little to no capital, so I did not realize the importance of having a team.

Throughout my career there were many obstacles and setbacks while achieving many of my goals and dreams. In life and business there are many stumbling blocks that may cause us to consider giving up on our goals and dreams. Adversity is one of the most important lessons to achieving success. My mission in life became about sharing my experiences good and bad to empower and motivate an entire generation to unlock their dreams.

There are many things in life that we can’t control, but we can control how we think and the actions we take. There is no one that achieves success alone; everyone needs others to help them get there. It took me hard learned lessons to identify what I needed in various stages of my business.

Most people do not realize there is a big difference between having marketing and public relations team.  I gained greater understanding of how they worked together and separately.  Public relations is one part of marketing and marketing is made up of many other aspects that concentrate on the sales. Public relations focuses on getting the word out and building relationships with your customers. The bottom line is you need to implement both your public relations and marketing campaign efforts to be successful. My public relations team helped raise my brand awareness and attract new customers. It’s not always about the product or service you’re offering but the story behind it that makes the difference.
